In The Begining~Blog dated March 12, 2020

In The Beginning

In The Beginning sounds like the passage from Genesis which I learned so very long ago when I was a wee little tyke.

HOWEVER, for those who are of the faith, I respect what you believe in, but bear with me while I edit this only slightly and take one liberty!

In the beginning Linda wanted to create a blog, but the blog was without form, her last creation which took 3 weeks to make was suddenly null and void! It had completely disappeared twice!!!!!  Darkness was upon her until WIX was discovered!

My very first blog posting ever was on Google Blogger with an introduction video (not included here) that dates back to March 12th 2020. Below was what I had written...............

Well, everyone-this new blog has been a long time in coming! I had started a blog based on idea given to me by a professional genealogist I met at the Marin Family History Center in 2014.

At that time, I had only just scratched the surface on how to go about this family ancestry detective business.

I explained to her that I had just borrowed my Aunt Susan's family photo album collection and although most photos were identifiable there was one album which I refer to as the 1800's album owned by Grandma Nell's grandmother Hanora Filben. To give you all an idea of what I am working with here is a sample page:

There were many many lost opportunities where any of us older folk could have asked Grandma Bruemmer or Great Grandma Nell who are there people but alas.........................

So, returning back to 2014, I asked her what she thought was the best way to identify these people, I am hitting a brick wall with no success in figuring out who these people might be and her suggestion was to start a blog .

A blog was started but then as we all know- life happens and it was never updated.

Another one started through

BUT soon my drafts worked and saved on began to disappear!!

Now here we are in 2021 and my new WIX blog website is up and running!!

Until the next blog continue to stay safe and be well!

Linda The Irish Family Ancestry Detective

On November 16 1898, Florence gave birth to a baby girl whom they named Madeline.

A second daughter Anita was born on Oct 1 in 1900.

The marriage to Florence may have been a happy one in the begining. But she soon showed her true colors, becoming  a very difficult and challenging woman to live with.

Florence began to misappropriate the household funds, using the money given to her for other purposes all the while attacking Frederick with abusive words and cruelty. She described all policemen as bums as you will see in the news article below.

After 12 years of a loveless marriage, Frederick had had enough.  With more than ample evidence, Frederick was granted a divorce in December of 1908. Florence was granted custody of their two daughters.

Florence passed away the following year

on September 16.

These two historic photos of Frederick come from the collection of my distant cousin Sandra of Texas. This was her grandfather who was the older brother of our Great/Grandpa Charles Cook!

Sitting proudly upon his horse, Frederick's work as policeman began in 1907 and it would not be long before he would be promoted to Corporal.

Many articles in the San Francisco newspapers would describe his wonderful dedication to both his job and the public!
