The Amazing Colorization of Family Ancestry Photos
Although I was too young to have remembered this brief opening NBC had prior to each program in the 1960's, I am well aware of it now since I enjoy collecting my favorite 1960's shows on DVD such as Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart etc.
The reason I have this opening in this particular post is because both of my ancestry sites have programs where one can both colorize and enhance their family photos!
In my research, I primarily use two main ancestry sites which are

Both of these websites have produced amazing information and history on our ancestors!!!
In mid February of 2021, My Heritage announced that they had developed a new program which would allow one to colorize their family photos. The process is amazing and brings our ancestors alive, as if the photo was only taken moments ago! Then in 2023, Ancestry..com developed a similar program as well!
In a comparison below you can see what these incredible programs can do!

The above photo was taken just days after the 1906 Earthquake in front of their Refugee Shack. 5,610 of these cottages were constructed by the Army, to house over 16,000 San Franciscans in 11 refugee camps in locations including Dolores Park, Washington Square, Precita Park, Portsmouth Square, and today's Park-Presidio Boulevard.
In my report of Great Grandma done in grammar or middle school- I recall her mentioning on how the family would camp in Golden Gate Park.
In the center is Great Grandma Nell holding first born Baby Evelyn! Next to Nell is her Dad Eugene Moore Steele and then next to him is Nell's husband Charles Cook. Behind Nell is Wilson Grant Chronister who married Charles older sister Catherine. In front of him is his daughter Ione. The man on the far left is unknown at this time.
Now here is the same photo after the colorization:

Pretty awesome eh??!?
Here's another one of Nell and Charles taken at their son Norbert's wedding-
